David Leclapart, Champagne 'L’Artiste' Blanc de Blancs, NV (750ml)
Base year, 2010. 100% Chardonnay from Léclapart’s estate vineyards in Trépail. Fermented in both enameled steel tanks and used barrels. Zero dosage. Light yellow; intense aromas of chalk, yellow plum, pear and a hint of biscuit.

The wine here is complex but the concept is simple: take a bunch of white wine grapes that happen to grow in your vineyard, and left them turn into wine. Let the skins yield a bit of color so that the wine turns orange.

Maranges is the last village in the Cote d’Or heading south, lying just where that incredible golden limestone slope starts to curve west. With the vineyards facing south, the grapes have plenty of warmth and you can definitely taste that in the wine.
